Taylor Sheridan now has a summer release date for his Wyoming winter drama. “Wind River” debuts on the fourth of August.

Set on the Wind River Reservation, and filmed at altitudes of 11,000 feet (in Utah), an FBI agent (Elizabeth Olson) needs tracking help from a local Fish and Game Officer (Jeremy Renner.)

This is Taylor Sheridan’s directing debut. He is known for FX's series Son’s of Anarchy as Deputy Chief David Hale. All during that time Sheridan has been writing screenplays.

"Wind River" is the final installment of an American trilogy. Sheridan's first two were Sicario in 2015 and Hell or High Water in 2016. A Business Insider story was about how Taylor Sheridan went from struggling actor to oscar contender overnight. As usual the truth of "overnight," however, is that it comes after about 20 years of struggle, then someone notices somebody is pretty good.

Taylor told the latimes.com, "I always knew I wanted to direct this one, so I didn't show it to anybody. I hid it in a drawer for three years and just waited." The wait was intended to build his track record to get confidence of financial backers for “Wind River."

It was very well received at the Sunset Film Fest. That doesn’t guarantee big box office, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.

Taylor Sheridan grew up on a ranch in Texas and now owns a home in Wyoming. It's near the Salt River, on what we imagine is a beautiful property.  Maybe his commute to work just got shorter. Variety just announced Taylor has been given a new series on Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV). That will be called "Yellowstone."
