We don't get a lot of tornadoes near Casper. But, four years ago we did. It was that time when there was a tornado on Casper Mountain.

I've seen videos of this being shared recently and I'm not sure why. According to the National Weather Service, this happened on Friday, May 23, 2014. Their page says May 21, 2014, but the radar confirmed it did happen on the 23rd. This is what the radar looked like at the time of this "tornado".

The weird thing about the storm that day is it wasn't technically a tornado. The National Weather Service categorized it as a landspout. Here's exactly how they described it:

A series of thunderstorms popped up across the state today, one of these thunderstorms even caused a landspout tornado to form on Casper Mountain!

A landspout tornado is nothing to sneeze at. The NWS says that damage would be typical of what a F1 tornado would do if you happen to be in the direct path. It could easily rearrange your furniture.

Do you have memories of the storm that day? Did you see the "tornado"?
