Lord, I know I'm supposed to be focusing on local stories, but this is just too good! If they can secure the funds, France plans to build, get this -"Napoleonland!"

We're not talking about the pastry or the ice cream, either (however, I can imagine the vendor trend). No, they've got it under their berets to construct a theme park on the scale of, and sure to rival Disneyland - which will honor their great, early 19th Century leader, Napoleon Bonaparte.

I love it! Forget the fact that Disneyland® Paris already exists. I mean, since when have the French let a little thing like loyalty stand in their way?

Credit Yves Jégo, former French Minister and "history buff" for this grand idea. Provided they can raise the £180 million needed to launch the project, Napoleonland will be built at the site of Napoleon's last victory (against invading Austrians in the 1814 Battle of Montereau), just to the south of Paris. So it sounds like Mickey and "Poly" are going to be neighbors.  N-A-P  O-L-E  O-N-L-A-N-D.

“We are not going to take sides,” Mr Jégo said in a reference to widely differing accounts of Napoleon’s legacy in Britain and France ranging from brutal dictator to heroic visionary.

That's so cool!!

Features at the proposed park include famous Napoleon battle reenactments, a water show recreating the 1805 Battle of Trafalgar, and a shrine to the legendary(?)Battle of Austerlitz and other decisive victories garnered by Napoleon.

Other curious potential attractions include a ski run through a battlefield "surrounded by the frozen bodies of soldiers and horses" and a recreation of Louis XVI being guillotined during the revolution – the precursor to Napoleon’s rise to power.

"It's going to be fun for the family,” he Mr Jégo told the Times.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait! You can read the full article here.  Thanks to the UK Telegraph.

C'est la vie!
