This bizarre device was invented in 1925 by Hugo Genrsback, editor of Science and Invention magazine. It's intention was to remove and distractions from the wearer's intended task. It cuts off all sight and sounds from the outside. The only visibility comes from the small horizontal slit, and oxygen is pumped into the mask at all times.

Okay, well I better get back to work before a mock up of one of these things ends up on my desk.
