The Warmest Winter Days in Wyoming History

We all know how brutal winter weather can be here in Wyoming. However, we do have days where the skies clear and warm air blows in from the southwest (usually with a 50 mile-per-hour wind).

These are a few of the warmest winter days in Wyoming history.

The record high for February occurred in 1995 when the town of Weston hit 79 degrees.

The warmest January day was recorded in 1981, when Recluse recorded a high temperature of 72.

The hottest day in March was way back in 1907, when Pine Bluffs registered a high of 86.

Over the years, Thermopolis has been Wyoming's warmest town in the winter, with an average high temperature of 46 in the month of February and 55 in March.

Torrington is Wyoming's hotspot during the month of January, with an average high temperature of 42.

As much as we complain about the cold and snow, it's actually more pleasant in Wyoming than other parts of the country. The Cowboy State's year-round "comfort index" is 73; well above the national average of 44.
