Memorial Day is this weekend and many folks will be heading out to their favorite camping, fishing or boating spot to enjoy the traditional three day weekend.

But, with gas still hovering around $3.50 a gallon, a heavy snow pack remaining in the mountains, lake levels on the rise and an extremely fast and potentially dangerous North Platte River, many folks might be looking for alternative ideas that are fun and appropriate for the whole family this Memorial Day weekend.

Here is a list of our top 5 Memorial Day activities that you DEFINITELY want to check out if you are staying in Casper this weekend.

Click it Don't Risk It - Enforcement Weekend

loading...

If you’re one of those who climb behind the wheel and are reluctant to buckle up, know that this weekend the police and highway patrol will be looking for you!!

The Wyoming Highway Patrol will join forces with local and national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates all across the country for the 2011 National - Click It Don't Risk It - seat belt enforcement mobilization, May 23-June 5.

During the mobilization, officers will be cracking down on motorists who fail to wear their seat belts – both day and night.

Because nighttime passenger vehicle occupants are among those least likely to buckle up and most likely to die in crashes when unrestrained, nighttime enforcement has become a priority of the Click It Don't Risk It mobilization. Of those who died in nighttime crashes in 2009, nearly two-thirds (62 percent) were not wearing seat belts at the time of their fatal crashes.

Regardless of where you are headed, we want to remind you, when you get behind the wheel to buckle up and be safe!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
