You heard about the shirt that JCPenney was made to remove from it's inventory right?  Well...

Yesterday, I sent to Jayce to school, looking super cute as he always does...and when I picked him up after school his shirt was inside out.  I thought perhaps he had spilled something on it and decided to turn it inside out, so I asked him what happened.  He then proceeded to tell me that his shirt was considered not appropriate and was made to turn it inside out.  The shirt read "Hello My Name Is TROUBLE"

Jayce attends 1st grade at Fort Caspar Academy, which is a school that I love, and I know that they have some strict rules about attire, as I have had 2 other boys attend the school all the way through and have experienced some discipline that I may not have agreed with 100%, but rules are rules and I understand why they have them and in most cases support them.

When you walk into FCA you will see that the children have an understanding of what they are there to do, which is of course, learn.  I love that about the school, I truly do.  My older boys are excellent students and Jayce is excelling there as well.  I certainly credit a lot of that to the academic program at FCA as well as the values that they have been taught through us as their parents and the school.

I know that as far as the dress code goes  at FCA there are certain things that must happen.  For example, shirts must be tucked in.  If the pants have belt loops, a belt must be worn.  I love this...because I don't like to see kids with their pants hanging down on their butts or even below!  Shirts may not have anything offensive, negative,  disruptive or anything otherwise deemed inappropriate on them.  That is where we came in..."Trouble" apparently is deemed inappropriate.  Maybe because it condones bad behavior?  I don't really know because I have not yet had a chance to visit with a teacher or anyone else about it as of yet.  I know that I've heard the saying "Here Comes Trouble" for as long as I can remember and I cannot remember anyone ever being offended by it, in fact, they have found it funny.

Again, I understand that rules are important and that they must be followed and enforced...I just find it hard to believe that a 6 year old wearing a shirt that says "Hello My Name Is...TROUBLE" is offensive, disruptive or inappropriate in any way, shape, or form.

Will this make me remove my child, from this school?  No...certainly not.  But I can say that I find it annoying and silly.  However, the benefits from sending my child to FCA far out weigh this silly matter...but that won't stop me from voicing my opinion...that's for sure!
