A Vampire Facelift Gave Me a Fresh Look Before A BIG Birthday
Crow's feet. Isn't that an awful name for something that happens to all of us who SMILE and ENJOY LIFE?
As I've gotten older and, ahem, a little more experienced, I've noticed some of the lines on my face deepening. In the past, I've tried microdermabrasion and crystal-free microdermabrasion—and loved it—so I was interested in trying a vampire facial when I heard Rejuvenate You offers them.
And then, I got more excited when they could combine that concept with a facelift. Unlike Botox or other fillers, a vampire facelift uses your own blood (platelet-rich plasma) and hyaluronic acid fillers to plump up and fill in lines. It also brightens your skin in general; as Rejuvenate You's website explains, it's "a non-surgical procedure designed to improve the texture, elasticity, volume, and tone" of your face.
I have a birthday coming up, so it seemed like the perfect time to try it. And I have to tell you, the professionals at Rejuvenate You made me feel so comfortable, even though I'm not one who enjoys having her blood drawn.
Here's exactly how it works: After a consultation, I had some blood drawn so a technician can separate the platelet rich plasma. Some of this is mixed with hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin anyway. They numbed my skin with a topical anesthesia and included lidocaine in the injectables to address any pain, which was nice for more sensitive areas, such as the skin around the eyes.
After they finish the injections, they used micro-needling to push the rest of the plasma-rich platelets into the rest of the skin on my face. At the end of the hour-long session, I noticed the lines were softer and my face was a little red (which is normal and expected). I liked it and ended up going back for a second session; the results will last for about a year!
Here are some photographs from my second session:
What do you think about the change?
I love it and would totally do this again—and suggest it to friends!
