Winter and spring in Wyoming can easily produce wind speeds between 75-100 MPH and in any other part of the country, that would be considered 'Hurricane' type winds.

Wyoming is without a doubt windy, but how windy is it?

Tornadoes are the most intense wind events on the planet and some tornadoes have produced wind speeds of over 300+ MPH.  Wyoming is relatively safe from these intense storms, although we do see the occasional tornado, Wyoming ranks 25th in the nation in number of tornadoes annually with June being the most likely to produce a twister.

Wyoming is very windy, we all know that.  According to NOAA (National Oceanic Atmospheric Association) 50-60 MPH winds helps the Cowboy State hold the title of windiest state in the country.  Wyoming easily produces annual wind speeds state wide of just under 13 MPH.  Places like Rawlins, Laramie, Cheyenne and Casper all experience the strongest wind speeds on an annual basis.

On the flip side of that scale - Lander and Sheridan are the least windy spots in the cowboy state, with an annual wind speed of just over 5 MPH.

Windiest City in Wyoming = Rawlins with an Avg of 12.9 MPH

Least Windy City in Wyoming = Lander with an Avg of 5.1 MPH
