Like many of you, I have been caught by the bug that's going around this year and I hate being sick!  Not that you enjoy it!!  But when I am sick, I start looking for what to eat to help me feel better sooner than later.

One of the first things I do is change my diet to try and get more vitamins and nutrients to give my body the best chance in fighting whatever is ailing me.

I just discovered an article from Health.com where they consulted experts about the best things to eat and drink when sick and they came up with the following list for the symptoms that are affecting you.

Nausea:  If you're nauseous, try eating things like pretzels and saltine crackers.  These are best because they help cut down on stomach acid. But be sure to avoid alcohol, caffeine, anything greasy, and anything spicy as they could make you feel worse.

Constipation: If you're constipated, try eatting anything high in fiber, and drinking a lot of water. Or if the opposite of constipated is your issue, remember the acronym B.R.A.T. . . . bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast.

Sore Throat: For a scratchy or sore throat or a runny nose, drink WARM tea, not hot. Hot tea can can make sore throats worse, and so can juice or anything acidic. And obviously don't eat something rough or scratchy like chips that might irritate your throat further.

Body Aches and Pains: If your entire body aches from the flu, eat something with a lot of magnesium, like nuts, bananas, beans, leafy greens, and avocados. But avoid caffeine and alcohol, because they'll make you dehydrated.

Headache: To get rid of a headache, drink a full glass of water, and see if you feel better in 20 minutes. Sometimes a little caffeine can help too, but you should drink one glass of water for every cup of coffee you drink.  Also, don't put any artificial sweeteners in it, because they tend to make headaches worse.

Here's to hoping you start feeling better soon!
