The National Weather Service has upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning through 9pm tonight (Sunday, January 9) - the earlier Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.   Here's the latest:

Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow, in effect until 9pm this evening.   Light to moderate snowfall will continue this afternoon, tapering off in the evening.

Snowfall of 4 to 7 inches has fallen in the Casper area today.  Total snowfall of 5 to 10 inches with the heavier amounts near Casper Mountain are expected by 9pm.

North wind at 15 to 20 mph will cause some blowing and drifting snow.  The snow will reduce the visibility to a quarter mile or less at times.    Roads will be very slick and icy today across the area.

Reminder:   A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.   Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous.   Only travel in an emergency.  If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
