Just as I suspected...it's tough to be a witch in Romania.  Good, or bad, the witches just can't seem to get a break.

First, the government began taxing them.  Now there's a legislative bill pending that would impose fines and even prison time for predictions that fail to come true...gulp.
Due to a still superstitious culture, soothsaying and fortune telling are  taken seriously in Romania.  And with a goverment looking to pull itself out of a recession and crack down on tax evasion, many feel that squeezing the witches is the way to go.
This has got the witches' cauldrons bubbling...
"They can't condemn witches, they should condemn the cards," Queen Witch Bratara Buzea told The Associated Press by telephone.
They haven't been taking the new mandates flying down, either.  In January, angry witches dumped poisonous Mandrake into the Danube River, in an attempt to put a hex on the officials.  More than likely, everyone else too.
Nice to take our minds off of our own problems for a while.  You can read the full story, here.
