New York Times best-selling Wyoming author William Michael Gear will be will be at the Natrona County Library May 2nd to talk about his new book, "This Scorched Earth", a sweeping Civil War/Historical epic that follows a family from the horrors of war into the early American West.

Here's a description from Gear's website, which he shares with wife and fellow writer Kathleen O'Neal Gear.

"The American Civil War tore at the very roots of our nation and destroyed most of a generation. To truly understand the madness and despair of such a horrendous conflict one needs to pick a moment. Or see that war through one family’s eyes. In rural Arkansas, such was the Hancocks. Devastated by a cruel war, they faced down their personal hells and in spite of it all survived. Their survival is a testament to the power of love…and the American spirit. This is their story. And ours."

Kathleen O'Neal Gear & W. Michael Gear, who have written more than 60 books and are also award-winning archeologists, have over 17 million copies of their books in print world-wide. The books have been translated into at least twenty-nine languages, according to their website.  The Gears live on a buffalo ranch in the Owl Creek Mountains of northern Wyoming.
