The Cowboy State has had a big year or two as far as entertainment goes. There were two Wyoming based movies, Disney-Pixar's The Good Dinosaur and Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. Next month will see the release of the third, the western-style Forsaken. With all the movies though, it was only a matter of time until Wyoming got it's own video game. Enter: Firewatch.

Firewatch is a first person adventure game, with gameplay much like Tomb Raider, but with seemingly less violence. Players take on the role of Henry (voiced by Rich Sommer of Mad Men), a Boulder, Colorado native working as a fire lookout who is assigned to his own tower in the Shoshone National Forest in 1989. Henry is slightly overweight (which is rare for a main character in a video game) and he seems to be having a pretty crappy year, on the verge of a divorce from his wife and also having what appears to be a drinking problem.

After just reading about the game, it sounded boring as hell, but after watching a few clips, the game looks to be deeper than I originally thought. Depending on how you talk to your female supervisor Delilah, it appears you might end up having a sexual relationship with her (per the demo). Also, the game appears to have very mature concepts as naked women, alcohol and foul language are a staple of the gameplay. It also appears that you may not be as isolated as you think, as in possibly dealing with a kidnapper/murderer.

Firewatch is set for a February 6th, 2016 release and should be coming out on multiple platforms. However, at this time, the only console system that is planning a release is the Sony Playstation 4.
