Al Ellefson, of Hulett, was recently selected to serve as the chairman of the Wyoming Veterans Commission.

Wyoming statute specifies the commission must select a new chairman every two years. Ellefson is a 26-year U.S. Air Force retiree and served 15 years with Wyoming's Department of Workforce Services. He is also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and previously served as their Department of Wyoming commander. He re-appointed Commissioner Lee Alley, of Wheatland, as the vice chairman and Commissioner Ron Akin, of Casper, as the secretary/parliamentarian.

The Wyoming Veterans Commission works with the governor and Wyoming Legislature to study state and federal legislation and make recommendations. Service officers from the commission help Wyoming veterans and their families seek health care, learn about benefits, and assist with filing VA disability claims. The commission also has oversight of the Oregon

Trail State Veterans Cemetery, in Evansville, and the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum, in Casper.
