Wyoming Wildlife magazine is looking for their next winning outdoor photos. Submissions are now open for the 2018 photo contest, and you can submit your photo online until Nov. 19. Winning entries will be announced in the February 2019 photo issue of Wyoming Wildlife.

“This is the 48th year of the photo contest and still we are seeing increasingly innovative and impressive shots,” said Amy Bulger, editor of Wyoming Wildlife. “With such diverse categories and subjects in Wyoming, our judges are looking forward to another competitive contest.”

The grand prize winner will receive $600 for the best overall photo and a $350 voucher for a print on metal, gallery mount or other canvas at Artizen Photo Printing. There will also be prizes for first, second and third places in each of the four photo categories.

According to Game and Fish, contestants can submit up to 10 photographs, and each must represent one of the following categories:

  • Wildlife (wild mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects)
  • Scenic (in which landmarks, scenery or inanimate objects are prominent)
  • Recreation (people enjoying the outdoors through hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, skiing or other outdoor activities)
  • Flora (wildflowers, foliage, fruiting bodies or other parts of plants).

“Photographers using any photography equipment have a chance at placing,” said Justin Joiner, Wyoming Wildlife creative director. “In the last few years, our judges have seen some top-notch entries using cell phones that can compete with some of the top cameras on the market.”

Here are more rules from Game and Fish:
