This week, the Michigan State Legislature voted to ban certain types of sexual activity. Luckily, consenting adults here in Wyoming are free to indulge their desires, unless it's in a walk-in freezer.

According to the website WeirdSexLaws.com, the town of Newscastle, Wyoming, actually has a municipal statute barring couples from engaging in sexual acts "while standing inside a store's walk-in meat freezer".

First off, the idea of romancing your partner inside a walk-in freezer seems somewhat difficult from a biological perspective. Cold air has a chilling effect on the male libido. However, it's safe to assume this law was probably inspired by an actual event.

Secondly, according to the language in the statute, so long as the couple isn't "standing" inside the walk-in freezer, no crime has been committed. Assuming the couple is laying down, hopefully with the benefit of a blanket, they wouldn't technically be in violation of the law.

Furthermore, what if the dirty deed is performed inside a walk-in cooler designated for produce? If there is no "meat" in the freezer, so to speak, a couple could exchange pleasantries without running afoul of the law.

In case you've never been there, Newscastle, Wyoming, is located on the state's eastern border, exactly 77 miles southeast of Gillette and 77 miles southwest of Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Weston County seat is home to just over 3,500 residents. The number of walk-in meat freezers within city limits is unknown.
