Blake Shelton has been a country star since 2001, but he didn't win his first CMA until 2011, when he picked up the trophy for Best Male Vocalist.  Those dry years gave him a complex.

He says, quote, "I'm surprised, honestly, every time I get nominations.  You've got to remember, I guess the first eight or nine years I never had any kind of nominations.

"I had decided, years ago, that I just wasn't going to be one of those artists that wins awards.  I think I had written it off for so long it’s like, 'Oh my God, I'm finding out I got a nomination.  I can't believe it.'"

He may not believe it, but he still appreciates it:  Quote, "I remember watching it on TV and wishing I could be one of those people one day, and now here I am doing it.  It's unbelievable."

Blake is nominated for three CMA's including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the year for 'Mine Would Be You'.  The CMA Awards air Wednesday night at 8 on ABC.
