Casper Police Arrest 2 for Meth, Child Endangerment

Two Casper residents were arrested Friday night and a child was taken into protective custody after police officers along with a Probation and Parole agent conducted a home check and allegedly found methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Amanda Lynn Stevens, 27, was booked into jail on recommended charges of interference and child endangerment with methamphetamine.

Brandt Michael Cross, 38, was arrested for interference with a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine and child endangerment with methamphetamine.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, an officer responded to an apartment in the 1500 Block of E. 15th St. at roughly 10 p.m. Friday to assist a Probation and Parole agent with a home inspection.

Stevens, who was under state supervision, was the tenant. Her guest, Cross, was wanted on a warrant from Converse County for delivery of methamphetamine; the warrant included child endangerment.

A child was asleep inside the residence at the time of the home compliance check.

Cross and Stevens both allegedly lied and told officers that Cross's name was actually Aaron Thompson. However, an officer viewed a photo of Cross and confirmed that his name was not Aaron Thompson.

Once under arrest, Cross allegedly said that he was currently using methamphetamine and told officers where to find his pipes, jeweler's bags and scales. He said that he smoked at the residence, but not when the child was there.

When asked why he had lied about his identity, Cross replied, "I don't want to go back to prison."

Cross also allegedly admitted to having smoked methamphetamine inside Stevens's car, which was used to transport the child.

Four glass meth pipes were found inside the master bedroom along with three 'tooter' straws; all of those items contained methamphetamine residue.

Children's toys were also inside the closet where the paraphernalia was found.

Stevens returned to the residence about an hour after the home check began. She said that she thought Cross had "cleared up his warrants," but knew that Cross had previously been jailed for methamphetamine-related offenses.

She added that this was only the second time she had left the child alone with Cross.

Stevens reportedly said she knew Cross was using methamphetamine, but she was unsure of the frequency.

An officer took the child into protective custody and contacted the Wyoming Department of Family Services.
