A Casper man was arrested late Thursday for allegedly stabbing another man in the face, according to court records.

Robert Veal, 31, was charged with aggravated assault and domestic battery.

About 11:30 p.m., an officer responded to the Wyoming Medical Center for a report that a man had been cut in the face. A doctor removed a bloody bandage covering the alleged victim's face to reveal a large slash mark under the victim's eye and another cut above his right eye on the eye lid, according to an affidavit filed with Natrona County Circuit Court.

After the victim had a CT scan, the officer interviewed him. He said he received a text message about 10:30 p.m. from a woman friend asking for help to move her belongings from the residence of Robert Veal on East Seventh Street near Country Club Road.

When he arrived at the residence, Veal came out of the house, looked at him and told him he was parked on his driveway.

The man said he was there to help the woman. Veal responded, "okay," and walked back in the house.

As the woman carried her luggage and walked out of the front door, Veal began yelling at her.

Meanwhile, a truck pulled into the driveway, and the driver apparently was Veal's father.

Veal came out of the house, held a knife, walked quickly toward the victim who was backing away, began swinging it at him, and cut him on the face with it.

Veal's father told his son to stop, got the victim a towel, and the woman and victim drove to the hospital.

Another officer interviewed the woman at the hospital. She said she had been in a semi-dating relationship with Veal for several months. Earlier in the day, Veal picked her up at a doctor's office and he was highly intoxicated. When they arrived at his residence, be became verbally and physically abusive, including placing his hand around her throat to hold her down.

She told the officer she then called her friend. When he arrived, he helped her with her luggage and tried to calm Veal, who smashed her personal belongings and again verbally abused her. She also saw Veal stab the victim.

Veal's father, during a police interview, corroborated the stories of the victim and the woman.

An officer went to Veal's residence. Veal opened the door and placed his hands behind his back to be handcuffed.

Veal told the officer he was defending himself and declined to answer questions. The officer saw blood on Veal's clothing and blood on the street.

Police then took him to the Natrona County Detention Center.
