Casper Sex Offender Admits Assaulting Woman With Knife

A Casper man pleaded guilty in Natrona County District Court Friday but denied holding a knife to the victim's throat.

Gill Eldor Weidner pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and burglary in Natrona County District Court Friday morning. Other charges in the case will be dropped under a plea agreement.

Under the proposed agreement, Weidner would serve a suspended four- to six-year prison sentence.

Instead, he would serve three-years supervised probation and complete the Casper Reentry Center felony program. If he is not accepted into the program, he would serve three-years of intensive supervised probation.

District Court Judge Kerri M. Johnson does not have to accept the agreement. Weidner remains jailed on $30,000 cash or surety bond.

According to an arrest affidavit in the case, Weidner was living with a woman he met through work when she trespassed him after learning he is a registered sex offender. 

Weidner was convicted of the equivalent to second-degree sexual abuse of a minor in 1993, according to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation's sex offender registry.

On April 28, 2018, Weidner was supposed to take the victim to work but instead drove her up Casper Mountain. The woman told police that he held a camouflage folding knife to her neck and asked her if she wanted to die.

Weidner denied holding the knife to the victim's neck in an interview with police.

Weidner admitted to cutting the victim's shirt while she was wearing it.

A few weeks later, the victim arrived home to find that her house had been ransacked and several items were missing. In court Friday, Weidner admitted to the break-in, though he denied taking anything.

A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
