How Many New Year Resolutions Have You Broken Already?
Each year people binge just before the new year because first of the year they are "not going to do that anymore." Whatever that is.
Each year my New Year Resolution is to not make any New Year Resolutions.
The problem is that by making that resolution I have at the same moment broken it.
Well, I'm here to tell you NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT!
Did you know that each year at this time gyms across America are flooded with people who have promised they will get to work and get back in shape?
Kinda hard to do if you were never in shape, to begin with.
Those people who have signed up for their new gym memberships tend to work out for 3 weeks, tops, then they are never seen again until the next new year.
Whatever you promised, just stop it.
Try this instead.
Raise your right hand. Swear -
I PROMISE TO ADULT JUST A LITTLE MORE THIS YEAR THAN I DID LAST YEAR.
I'm not saying that you need to be fully adult. You need to have some fun.
How about thinking a bit more before you eat? A little less of that and a little more of the good stuff.
How about moving a bit more, doing active things you love, which will help you build some muscle?
Now and then think to yourself, 'it would be smarter if I did this, rather than that.' Then do the smart thing, whatever that is.
Save a little more money.
Get a little more sleep - it's good for you.
Engage in less drama.
Surround yourself with more good people.
Learn something new.
If you take these things as casual promises to yourself you'll be able to stick with it and accomplish a few of them.
Don't sweat it if you mess up now and then and screw up a promise you made to yourself. It's okay.
