Olsen, Quintanilla, and Proffit Are the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week 2-6-25 [VIDOES]
A basketball player and two wrestlers were chosen as the WyoPreps Athlete of the Week winners, presented by Premier Bone and Joint Centers. Thanks to their performances last week, Jan. 27-Feb. 1, 2025, Douglas senior Lauren Olsen, Thermopolis sophomore Lilly Quintanilla, and Kemmerer senior Roany Proffit earned the weekly accolade. Olsen set a new state scoring record in basketball, while Quintanilla and Proffit both won titles at the Ron Thon Wrestling Tournament.

Girls Winners
Lauren Olsen surpassed the girls’ basketball scoring record for a prep career with 75 points over two games last weekend. The senior scored 44 points in an 89-18 win at Glenrock last Friday night. She followed that with 31 points in a home victory versus Burns, 86-14, last Saturday. In the win over the Broncs, Olsen made two free throws with 1:13 left in the first quarter for the record. She passed Lander Valley’s Tahnee Robinson, who scored 2,303 points in her career from 2002-2006.
WyoPreps spoke to Olsen on Wednesday and asked her to reflect on her latest accomplishment, a new state record. Lauren said the credit goes to her teammates and coaches, who’ve put her in great positions throughout her career to excel at a high level. She also credited her older sister Allie for taking pressure off her back in her freshman season. She also described the celebration, how she was hoping to get the record, and more.
Lilly Quintanilla won the 115-pound championship at the prestigious Ron Thon Memorial Wrestling Tournament in Riverton. She won her first four matches by pin and then beat an undefeated opponent in the finals by a 14-1 major decision. Quintanilla was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Lower Weights and remained undefeated this year at 26-0.
Unfortunately, WyoPreps was unable to visit with Ms. Quintanilla, who has been under the weather. We wish her all the best in a speedy recovery.

Boys Winner
Roany Proffit joined the elite company after taking the title at 138 pounds at last week’s Ron Thon Memorial Wrestling Tournament. Proffit became only the fifth wrestler in state history to win a Ron Thon belt all four years of his prep career. He won his first three matches by pin, won his semifinal with a 14-6 major decision, and pinned his opponent in the finals. Proffit improved to 39-1 on the season and was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Lower Weights.
Our Frank Gambino caught up with Roany after his fourth Ron Thon title last Saturday.
Congratulations to Lauren, Lilly, and Roany on being selected as the Premier Bone and Joint Centers WyoPreps Athletes of the Week!
