See Odd Mistake In Wyoming Historical Society Calendar
Let's see if you think that this Wyoming Historic Society calendar has a silly mistake.
This was sent to me by a listener and his wife (Wake Up Wyoming morning radio talk show).
It shows the first of December being on a Saturday. I know they are trying to carry over the first of the month on the same page, but it looks like they put it on the wrong day. The first is on a Monday.
Nobody noticed this until they turned the page to November, which means this has gone unseen until this late in the year.
Have a look at the photo below and give your brain a moment to think about it. Is this wrong? Does this confuse you? Did somebody make a mistake?
Why didn't they just take December 1st and put it at the bottom next to November 30th? That would have made a lot more sense.
Were they trying to put the number 1 at the top so it carries over to the next page, at the top? If so, it's not working.
This looks like a mistake to me, and if it is, that makes this calendar a collector's item, which means it's worth more than if it were just a regular calendar.
It is a great calendar, either way.
The first Wyoming Historical Calendar was published in 1981.
The Wyoming Historical Society publishes a yearly calendar depicting scenes from Wyoming's history. Calendars display historic photos that support a theme of each year's publication. The covers are handsomely designed in color, and the monthly photos are in black and white. Daily entries, matched as often as possible to exact dates (i.e., if it says it happened on Tuesday the 6th, it happened on a Tuesday the 6th), sometimes mundane, others more impactful, to Wyoming's history.
The Calendar of Wyoming History is available to purchase at various locations across the state, or directly from the Wyoming Historical Society at store.wyshs.org.
(Prices may vary depending on where purchased.)
If you are not able to find the calendar locally, please contact Society headquarters at the address below, or call 307.322.3014, or e-mail info@wyshs.org:
