Have you ever heard a scream in a movie and thought... Hmmm, I've heard that somewhere before.

Well, turns out there is an inside joke with film buffs about a sound effect called the "Wilhelm Scream."Which was first used in a movie called "Distant Drums" in 1951.

Instead of trying to "recreate the wheel"(so to speak), film makers have re-used the scream in all sorts of movies.  Some of the most recognizable uses were in movies such as "Batman", "Star Wars", "Gremlins", "Toy Story", an "Indiana Jones" sequel and even more. The "Wilhelm Scream" sound effect has in fact been in use for 60 years now.

Here is a montage of the "Wilhelm Scream" in use on the movie screen.
