As our economy slowly starts to rebound, many communities are struggling to make city and county services efficient and viable.   Many "Oat Counting" politicians and city officials are turning to laying off Veteran Police Department members in order to save some oats.This is currently the case in Charleston, South Carolina.

Napoleon lost his policing job, along with the other five police horses here, as Charleston joined the growing number of cities that have retired their horses and closed their stables to save money.

Will this become the way of police and sheriff mounted forces in Wyoming?  Probably not (at least I hope not). But as city and county agencies look to cut costs, moving mounted patrols to bicycles or other electric vehicles could prove less costly.
