Video shows a house on fire in west Casper that caused enough damage to displace the occupants. Occupants were not home at the time of the fire, and pets were rescued, including a dog that was rescued by a neighbor through a window.
According to the release, investigators determined the fire was accidental and caused by smoking materials disposed on the back deck of the house. The release states that wind was a factor in igniting and accelerating the fire.
A release states that Casper-EMS was called to the area of the 1700 block of West First Street for a wildland fire. The statement says that crews arrived to find a fire burning in grass and light fuels on the north side of The Burlington Northern-Santa Fe rail line.
