No child should ever have to go without food, but the harsh reality is many children do often miss meals during the summer months when school is no longer in session.
According to a press release from the NCSD, numerous students from grades 2-8 participated in a district-wide spelling bee, and it was Benjamin Munger, a 4th grader from Bar Nunn Elementary, who earned 1st place.
“I feel like if we just go in without our masks and go to class just like normal, that’s going to make a bigger impact than going out to the front of the school with signs and having the threat of it getting violent.”
The tone of the meeting though, was not defensive, and Hopkins admitted the author had a point in that the district has not been transparent enough with the public and the press.
