Things are really starting to heat up in Casper. Not only is the weather great at the moment, but rodeo season has hit as we welcome back the College National Finals Rodeo. It's the 14th year that these wild and woolly young cowboys and cowgirls have descended on our city, and to make them feel even more welcome, we have a little present.

The College National Finals Rodeo is just beginning its winning ride this week at the Casper Events Center. The action is sure to be fierce, the scores high, the stock ornery, and there's been a lot of talk behind the scenes that us spectators never get a chance to hear...until now.

Okay, so once again I sacrifice myself for the sake and sanity of our My Country listeners. Even though I was dead tired after work and still extremely bitter over my lottery loss, I went home and watched my prerecorded Academy of County Music Awards broadcast. I thought it was a good show, but I have more questions than I have answers. Here are my top 11.

What a relief for all of us that feel that there aren't enough holidays between St. Patrick's Day and Easter. We can now embrace another great reason to clog up the card aisle. Lo and behold! It's National Make Up Your Own Holiday Day! In its honor I will proudly toot my own horn and present to you my top 11 made-up holidays.

This Sunday marks the return of Hollywood's hottest toast to itself - the 84th Annual Academy Awards! It will all go down live on ABC with popular long-time host, Billy Crystal returning to his greatest role since City Slickers. If you're not busy hunting or enjoying your life, you might tune in. In the meantime I have my 11 suggestions on how to make this stupendous event even more fun for everyone.

Super Bowl XLVI or "46" for those of us who don't speak Roman, is almost here! On February 5th, the streets will lie as silent as any other big holiday. We will come together as a nation for a chance to drink heavily, root on the two best NFL teams, tear through towers of wings, and in one of life's greater ironies, actually look forward to watching commercials.

The arrival of the new year brings me fresh hope, new perspective, and 11 new resolutions that are most likely destined to fail.
