Yellowstone Supervolcano

According to a Tweet on the account "Nature and Science" @InterestingSci the Yellowstone Supervolcano has erupted.

Just in case you haven't heard enough insane conspiracy theories this week, here's one to top them all. There's a new claim that North Korea plans to nuke Yellowstone in an attempt to cause the supervolcano to erupt.

In case you didn't know, I tend to follow the seismic activity at Yellowstone National Park pretty close. There have been rumors recently that the park has been experiencing harmonic earthquake tremors. Let's stick to the facts and understand why this is important.

The USGS recently updated their volcano threat assessment for the first time in 14 years. They now list the Yellowstone super-volcano as a moderate threat.

There have already been over 120 earthquakes near the Yellowstone supervolcano in 2019, but there's probably no reason to worry.

The internet is freaking out again over a map that's been shared showing how much ash could fall on Casper if the Yellowstone supervolcano erupted.

We all have that conspiracy theory friend that wants to remind us that the Yellowstone supervolcano will someday ruin our day. If reports I'm reading are true, they should be more worried about what a massive earthquake could to do Wyoming.
