A Cheyenne man is behind bars in connection with the death of a missing baby boy whose body is believed to be in a northern Colorado landfill.

Laramie County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Captain Linda Gesell says Logan Rogers was arrested yesterday (Thursday) on charges of manslaughter and reckless child endangerment.

The 23-year-old is accused of killing his girlfriend's 13-month-old son and dumping his body in a trash bin at Laramie County Community College.

"We learned that that particular dumpster and its contents were part of a load of refuse that went down to the landfill in Ault, Colorado," said Gesell. "We have been able to narrow down where that specific area is likely to be."

Gesell says the search for the child's body will begin at sunrise on Monday.

"Logistically this is going to be a very big operation," said Gesell. "Because it's in Weld County's jurisdiction we are working closely with the Weld County's Sheriff's Office and they will be in charge of what happens in Colorado."

Gesell says it's unknown at this time what led to the child's death.

Rogers was scheduled to make his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court this (Friday) afternoon, but that's been pushed to Monday at 10:15 a.m. He is being held in the Laramie County Detention Center on $500,000 cash bond.
