Casper police officers arrested two people on Thursday after a young child tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana.

Trae Derik Smith and 30-year-old Roxanna Lee Anderson were each booked into jail on recommended charges of methamphetamine possession and child endangerment with methamphetamine.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, officers on Feb. 7 executed a search warrant at the Casper apartment shared by Smith and Anderson. Police say the affidavit was issued after an extensive investigation which was assigned to a detective on Dec. 21.

The affidavit, as provided to news media, is redacted and does not specify the nature of the initial investigation.

In searching the apartment on Feb. 7, officers allegedly found methamphetamine pipes, empty jewelers bags containing meth residue, over a gram of meth in two separate baggies, a small amount of marijuana shake and other paraphernalia.

A child, who was born in 2017, had been in Smith's custody at the apartment for the prior four months.

An investigator for the Wyoming Department of Family Services administered a voluntary urine test to Anderson, who provided a sample which tested positive for meth and marijuana.

The child was taken into protective custody and later tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and marijuana.
