New Study Shows That Wyomingites Are Scared Smart Homes

If you're used to someone on your TV saying the name ALEXA, and your ALEXA lights up and asks what you wanted, you don't have a problem with smart homes.

If you're reading this with a puzzled look on your face or you're looking at your 2007 flip phone, you probably don't have a smart home and likely won't be getting one any time soon.

Personally, I'm not one that usually embraces the thought of technology ruling the world, but there are a couple of things I enjoy. Telling ALEXA to turn on my 'Morning Lights', having ALEXA start my coffee well before I get out of bed and take a shower, and asking ALEXA random questions just to hear her whacked out answers, are a few of things that fire me up. Most anything other than that, I'm out.

Seems there are quite a few Wyomingites that haven't embraced the 'Smart Home' concept. Actually, there are some people in Wyoming that haven't even embraced the internet concept either. According to broadbandsearch.net, 97.2% of Wyoming's population has access to high speed internet service, but 1/4 of Wyoming residents elect to not have internet service. So having a 'Smart Home' is certainly out of the question for quite a few people in Wyoming.

There are only 3 states that have fewer smart homes than Wyoming.

Google's Oxford Languages Dictionary definition of 'Smart Home' is:

a home equipped with lighting, heating, and electronic devices that can be controlled remotely by phone or computer.

AAA says that having these 'Smart Home' devices will make life easier, while at the same time can also be used to save you money.

Smart Thermostats - allow you to control temperatures in your home throughout the day. Helping with heating and air costs.

Smart Outlets and Power Strips - save energy by keeping devices from using access energy while they're not being used. Could save you up to $200 per year.

Smart Bulbs - Use less energy and last longer than standard light bulbs.

Smart Speakers - Central control system for smart devices in your home, allowing you to control and manage your devices from anywhere.

Of course, there are many 'Smart' devices you can have around your house to assist you throughout the day. Think about a 'Smart' vacuum that can take care of your floors while you're at work, to save you time when you get home.
