Drivers near Seattle had to deal with a major "haddock" over the weekend when a truck spilled thousands of pounds of fish guts on a state highway.
The accident occurred on highway 101, closing the thoroughfare for more than two hours on an already rainy, messy day. A highway patrolman says that the driver apparently lost control after the "soupy" cargo sloshed to one side on a curve. He was not injured in the spill.

A patron who donated some books to an Indiana library nearly lowered the boom on the place – by including a hollowed out volume that contained a gold-plated handgun!
An employee cracking open a copy of Robert Stone's Outbridge Reach found the single-shot weapon, which appeared to be "historic" in nature. Since thousands of books are donated every month, officials say they have no idea who put the book into the donation box. (Northwest Indiana Times)
Just about everyone will like the ring of this – a British court has ruled in favor of a man who sued a group of telemarketers in order to get them to pay him for wasting his time on the phone.
Richard Herman sued for the equivalent of about 200 bucks because one particular company kept pestering him to take additional insurance. He said he felt "oppressed" because he kept getting calls on his cell phone, even on Sunday afternoons, so decided to bill them for the time he spent fielding calls. (UPI)
