When George Strait first hit Nashville in 1977 he was considered "too country" for the music scene at the time.
George Strait was in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii when he first picked up a guitar and started playing.
George Strait has charted 57 Number 1 singles , more than any artist in any genre, and he's not done yet.
These were just a few of the facts that i picked up in an article that i read about George over the weekend in an article in American Profile. You can read the rest of the article here.

This being veterans week and George Strait being a veteran, I also  wanted to remind you of George's involvement with a program called the Wrangler National Patriot Program .Wrangler founded the program in December 2009 with a $50,000 donation. Since then, the company has donated a portion of proceeds from its National Patriot line of clothing and accessories to various charities that provide support to military veterans and their families. The shirts, jeans and other clothing items are sold at rodeos across the country, as well as at a number of retailers that carry the Wrangler brand.

And more information on George includes the announcement of his first round of concert dates with Martina McBride for 2012. You will find that story here.

Another fact about George is that he is about to become a grandpa. Trisha Berry has that story here
