The 2021 State Track Meet began on Thursday afternoon with some pleasant weather conditions which was quite a change from 2019, that's for sure.

On the girl's side in the 4A ranks, Jackson set at the all-class state record in the 1600 sprint medley in 4.11 53. That medley team was made up of Kate Brigham, Rebecca Griebel, Parker Smith, and Carey Ritter. Libby Berryhill of Laramie won the 3200 in 11.52.02 while Stacia Barker captured the high jump as she cleared 5-7.25. Lauryn Love from Campbell County took the podium in the shot put with a toss of 46-11.

Over in 3A, Lyman's Elena Jensen won the 3200 in 11.52.43 and Torrington won the 1600 medley, In the field events, Kamdynn Townsend of Douglas won a state title in the high jump at 5 feet even. Her teammate Allyson Fertig threw 42-9.25 to win the shot-put.

In 2A, the 3200-meter champion was Muriel Jones of Big Piney in 11.39.80, and Tongue River placed first in the 1600 medley, setting an all-class record in the process. In the field events, Glenrock's Summer Schumacher won the state championship in the pole vault at 9-6 with Carleigh Reish of Tongue River leaping 17 feet even to win the long jump.

Over in 1A, Jordan Stoddard of Southeast set the class record in the long jump at 19-4.25. Southeast also won the 1600 medley relay. Hulett freshman Ahnya Ivie-Moody took the 3200 in 12.40.96
