A wildfire burning near the east boundary of Yellowstone National Park doesn't pose a threat to trails, cabins or backcountry campsites, the park service announced Tuesday.

According to a news release, Yellowstone's Mount Washburn fire lookout detected the fire on Saturday. The fire was likely started by lightning.

On Sunday, an aerial reconnaissance team from Shoshone National Forest located the fire near Pollux Peak.

The fire is listed at 29 acres.

Fire managers will monitor the Pollux Fire and also prepare a management plan to address firefighter and public safety, protection of structures and natural resources.

Smoke from the fire might be visible from Sunlight Basin and Crandall.

Park officials will release further information as fire activity warrants.
