100,000 Mini-Bottles On The Wall

Nearly 2-dozen JFK airport workers are accused of walking off with those mini-bottles of booze that are served on American Airlines planes. It is estimated that 100,000 bottles found legs and walked.

The District Attorney in Queens announced the arrest of 15 employees of Sky Chef, the food and beverage company for American Airlines and 2 security guards. They’re accused of stealing the nips, plus duty-free perfume, cartons of cigarettes, and booze. All told, they swiped items with a value of more than $750,000. (NY Times)

$9.99 A Gallon For Gas

Drivers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania were shocked today (Wednesday) when they pulled into Lukoil stations only to find a listed price of up to $9.99 a gallon.

Lukoil dealers have been staging a one-day protest over what they say are overly high wholesale prices from Lukoil North America. They say they've been forced to pass those costs on to customers, which has slowed sales.

It's not clear whether the stations were actually charging $10 for a gallon of gas or just posting the price to send a message. The Associated Press reports that some customers were buying a few gallons in solidarity, but ABC News says they were actually selling the gas at the usual price of around $3.79.

A Not So Comic Strip

A New Jersey woman gave new meaning to the idea of a strip mall by standing on a busy shopping street and asking motorists if they'd be interested in paying to have her take her clothes off.

Jackie Hatter was allegedly hanging out at the side of the road, flagging down cars and asking the drivers to fork over some dough for a peek at her naughty bits. When cops approached the scene to check out the commotion, Hatter jumped on the cruiser, screaming and cursing until she was taken to jail – where she continued her freak-out with more screaming and a request that somebody shoot her.

The woman was eventually placed in restraints and charged with disorderly conduct and drug possession. (Uniontown Herald-Standard)

A wanna-be burglar in Georgia is in a ho-ho-hole lotta trouble after getting stuck when he went up the chimney without care during a heist.
