A New Study Shows That Casper Is ‘Wyoming’s Drunkest City’
It's probably not the badge that Casper wants, but with as many breweries as we have here, it may be true.
Wyoming's Drunkest City.
24/7 Tempo crunched the numbers, and 19% of adults in Casper drink excessively.
It seems like a significant number, but if you look at the adults just South in Colorado, their drunkest city has an even more significant number.
Fort Collins takes the championship belt for drunkest in Colorado, coming in with 22.2% of adults drinking a little too much. North of Wyoming, Montana's drunkest city is Missoula, with a whopping 24.9%. Bismark, North Dakota, has 23.1%; Rapid City, South Dakota, has 21.1%; and Lewiston, Idaho, has 20.3%.
One thing each of the drunkest cities has in common, besides lots of beer, is a good-sized college.
Casper College is one of the region's largest community colleges, offering many opportunities for college students.
Ft. Collins is home to Colorado State University.
Missoula, MT, is one of the top 20 college towns in the United States and home of the University of Montana.
Bismark, ND, is home to seven colleges.
Rapid City, SD, has about five college campuses.
Lewiston, ID, is home to Lewis and Clark State College.
Each of these cities is also home to multiple breweries and bars to help with their 'drunkest' label.
Even though the numbers from Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, and North and South Dakota seem high, the largest are in the Midwest.
Dubuque, Iowa, leads the pack with 27.4%, Wausau-Weston, Wisconsin, is next on the list at 27.2%, and Montana is third with 24.9%
