With Spring and Summer coming, Wyoming's art scene is about to be on fire, with all kinds of events kicking off to highlight the arts. One of those upcoming events is for Casper artist Zachary Pullen. For the first time in 11 years, Pullen will have an exhibit at the Nicolaysen Art Museum.

The exhibit will have an opening reception for Late Nights and Long Summers: the artwork of Zachary Pullen on Friday, April 10, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The party will feature live music, and Zak will speak about the exhibit and the art on display. The opening will kick off the summer-long residency at the Nic, which runs through August.

As I mentioned, it's the first time in 11 years that he's had an exhibit at the Nic.

It's been eleven years since the last one at the Nic, I'm coming off one at the Brinton Museum, but it was just a couple of the books images. This one is fairly encompassing for the last eleven years.

The last show, 11 years ago,  was called Among Giants, and Pullen's painting of the presidents was the last one he did for that show. The new show will feature artwork from the last 11 years, and will begin with the ethics paintings he did for the YMCA, along with other paintings he's done since.

If you think about how long 11 years is, Zak has created a lot of high-profile artwork since then. Including all the illustrations from Casey Rislov's book 'A Home For Steamboat,' and a mural he's been working on since November for Cheba Hut, the new sub shop opening soon. When you visit his new exhibit, you'll be able to see what goes into creating a piece of art of this size.

I actually hung all of the sketches and all the preliminary work in this show at the Nic, so people can see my process of coming up with something. The mural is 32 by 9.

Many of the paintings in this display are from private collections from all over the country, and are ones he hasn't seen since they were completed. Some are coming from as far as San Francisco, CA, and the owners drove them here to ensure their safety.

Start planning now to attend the opening reception on Friday, April 10, at the Nic. Admission is only $10 for individuals, or $20 for families, but if you become a member of the Nic, you're admission is free. Find out details on becoming a member at  TheNic.org.
