The Casper Police Department continues to investigate the discovery of a possible explosive device last week, Sgt. Joey Wilhelm said Monday.

However, no charges have been filed, Wilhelm said.
Casper Police and Natrona County Sheriff's officers responded to a report about 11 a.m. Friday of a possible explosive device in the 1500 block of Kit Carson Avenue.

Officers were still on the scene by 2 p.m.

Officer Justin Edberg said Friday the area was evacuated.

The device, whatever it was, was removed and the area was deemed safe, he said.

Monday, Wilhelm said the device appeared to be a pipe bomb and was found in the garage of a residence. He did not say who reported the device other than the police received a tip.

The case may not remain with the police department, Wilhelm added.

"If it was an actual bomb, it would be turned over to the feds," he said.
