A Casper police officer was unable to stop in time Monday morning and collided with the rear of an SUV on First Street just east of E. Yellowstone Highway.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Sgt. Dan Dundas said the Natrona County Sheriff's Office is investigating the "minor fender bender," as a law enforcement agency cannot investigate itself. It was unclear whether any citations would be issued.

The crash was reported at roughly 11:20 a.m. Dundas said pedestrians had crossed First Street and caused a line of eastbound vehicles to stop.

One of those vehicles, directly in front of the white Ford SUV, stopped rather abruptly, Dundas said. That caused the Ford to brake quickly as well, and did not leave the police officer time to stop safely.
