It's always exciting to hear that it's time to announce the date for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming's Annual Awards & Recognition Breakfast, who will be honored, and who the inspirational speaker will be.

This year marks the 28th Annual Breakfast, to be held on Wednesday, September 16th, at the Ford Wyoming Center. Per usual, the day will begin with a great breakfast and continue with special moments, including the recognition of this year's community honorees, Bob and Celia Kirkwood. Married nearly 47 years, the Kirkwoods have built a life centered on faith, family, business, and service to the Wyoming community. Through their leadership, generosity, and longstanding commitment to helping others, they have made a lasting impact across Wyoming.

Each year, the morning is capped off by an inspirational speaker with the hopes that everyone in attendance will be touched and inspired to make an impact in the community. There's no doubt that this year's speaker will not only do that, but may light a fire under you and get you so pumped up that you'll need to run home.

Coach Ken Carter rose to national prominence in 1999 as head coach of the Richmond High School basketball team in California when he locked out his undefeated team over poor academic performance. Despite controversy and public criticism, Carter remained committed to prioritizing education, accountability, and character development for his players. His story later inspired the major motion picture Coach Carter, starring Samuel L. Jackson.
