Yesterday, Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell announced nearly $500 million in Affordable Care Act funding to support health centers nationwide in providing primary care services to those who need them most.

“These awards will give 1.4 million more Americans across every state access to comprehensive, quality health care,” said Secretary Burwell.  The Community Health Centers of Central Wyoming and 1,183 other health centers received awards to increase access to services such as medical, oral, behavioral, pharmacy, and vision care across the country.

The funding award comes on the heels of an additional award by HRSA to recognize the Community Health Centers of Central Wyoming (CHCCW) for recent achievements in providing high quality, comprehensive care. The new $282,926 award will allow CHCCW to expand current health care services in Casper by expanding weekday hours of operation and opening on weekends.

“We are pleased to receive this much-needed award today,” said CHCCW’s CEO, Daniel Meyers.  “The funding will afford our clinic with the ability to serve our patients more around their schedules. Patients will be able to come in after hours and on the weekend instead of taking time off work.”

Last year, the clinic served 13,835 patients, and 1 in 6 Casper residents have received care at CHCCW. It’s going to be easier than ever to access quality health care through CHCCW. The clinic plans to begin expanding hours and days of operation as early as this fall.
