Our lives are busy with work, school, kids, friends, exercise, and other daily responsibilities; getting sick doesn't fit into your schedule. Back in the older days, there wasn't a drug store on every other corner. So, when you felt sick, you had to do what you had to do to feel better.
I've been following Cowboy Kent Rollins for years. He's opened many people's eyes to the ways of cowboy cooking. His cookbook, "A Taste of Cowboy: Ranch Recipes and Tales from the Trail," offers tips and tricks for authentic cowboy cooking, as well as simple cowboy cures for cold and flu season.
When I was growing up, my grandpa said a hot toddy would take care of any cold symptoms, and I still use that philosophy today.
- If I start to get a sniffle, boom, hot toddy.
- If I'm feeling achy, boom, hot toddy.
- If I have the chills, boom, hot toddy.
- If I'm congested, boom, hot toddy.

Kent's hot toddy ingredients are simple:
- Coffee
- Squeeze of lemon
- Honey
- Whiskey of your choosing
- Sip and inhale the steam.
Kent's fever killer and infection fighter:
- Grade 1/2 a jalapeno and one garlic clove
- Mix with two tablespoons of honey
- Take one teaspoon per day.
Kent's immune booster:
- 3/4 cup of hot water
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- Generous shake of cinnamon.
- Stir and drink
