Cowboy Future Historians At Casper’s Wyoming Veterans Museum
A special program to create opportunities for youth to experience history first-hand will kick off on Veteran's Day at the Wyoming Veteran's Museum. It's called "Cowboy Future Historians", and is a partnership with the Wyoming State Historical Society.
The program is based upon similar groups in Pennsylvania, Texas and North Carolina the “Cowboy Future Historians” will "emphasize hands-on activities and learning about the fascinating men and women that wrote our nation’s history," according to museum curator Doug Cubbison.
The first program will be learning about an early artist, Anna Coleman Ladd, who crafted masks to help soldiers wounded in World War I to disguise their wounds. Come to the museum, and craft your own mask while learning about how artists helped veterans 100 years ago, and are still assisting veterans today.
Cowboy Future Historians Program
- Noon, Saturday, November 11th. Organizers say this gives veterans and families enough time to attend Veterans Day celebrations at 11:00 a.m. and then head out to the museum.

- These programs are suitable for youth aged 12-15 (grades 7-10)
- No reservations are needed and there is no charge for participation, but they do ask that those students who are interested in participating contact the museum, so that we have sufficient refreshments and materials.
