David Nail Films Music Video for ‘The Sound of a Million Dreams’

David Nail has filmed a brand new music video for his latest single and title track to his current album, ‘The Sound of a Million Dreams.’ For the video, Nail worked with famed director Chris Hicky, who picked the perfect place to film — the historic Alabama Theater in Birmingham, Ala.

Nail and Hicky worked hard to create the perfect mini-movie to portray the song, which was penned by Phil Vassar and Scooter Carusoe. “Everyone has that song or songs,” says Nail. “That’s the most amazing thing about music: the way songs can hold your life. It does for me, and for just about everybody I know, so I didn’t want this video to take anything away from the dreams that other people have in their music.”

Nail’s stage band is also featured in the video that was filmed in the old theater, which holds special meaning in the singer’s heart. The decision to shoot at the Alabama establishment, which was built in 1927, was based partially around the strong relationship Nail has had with the Birmingham market since performing unplugged at the Bama Rising Concert recently, following the natural disasters that ripped through the area.

“The people there are so soulful,” Nail notes. “You can feel the music moving through them, and you know it’s a part of who they are. We didn’t even use extra people in our video, but you can feel their passion for the songs and artists in the air.”

The video opens with Nail on the stage alone, then his band slowly emerges with their instruments. As the video progresses, the deeper it gets, including various still shots of Nail throughout his life starting at age six until now. The slide show pictures display his dreams of music becoming his reality.
