Lockout Lifted at Natrona County School District Facilities

The Natrona County School District says its facilities are no longer under a lockout, but the Casper Police Department will maintain a presence in the area as a precaution. 

"NCSD's dedication to the safety of students and staff remains our primary focus. This includes working with local law enforcement to keep students and staff safe," the district said in an update. "Thank you to CPD and local law enforcement for their immediate response and dedicated work."

Further details, including the reason for the lockout, have not been released.

Several Natrona County School District facilities were placed into lockout protocol Tuesday afternoon.

There is no safety concern regarding schools, district spokesperson Tanya Southerland told K2 Radio News in a text message. The lockout is restricted to the district campus area.

No visitors will be allowed in the buildings during the lockout. In a Facebook post, the district said the lockout includes the Central Services Facility at 970 N. Glenn Rd. as well as extended support service buildings, maintenance, and transportation.

Southerland said that the Casper Police Department responded very quickly.
