There was a problem with that statement. Hawaiian pizza wasn't created in Hawaii, it came from Canada, and the man that created it was from Greece.
Pizza topping debates may be one of the most passionate debates. The pizza styles, crust thickness and flavors, cheese choices, meat toppings, veggies or fruit, can cause friction between even the best of friends or families. Actually, it's pretty surprising that pizza debates are even a thing.
Pineapple on pizza is a debate that became more popular when social media came around. There definitely are strong opinions about whether pineapple belongs on pizza or not. People sure love to let you know how they feel about your pizza choices, too.
There have been many survey's done about pizza toppings and pineapple specifically.
In 1999, pineapple pizza accounted for 15% of all pizzas ordered in Australia
A 2019 survey said that 12% of Americans who eat pizza, say pineapple is in their top 3 favorite toppings.
A 2022 survey show that 44% of those that responded say they loved pineapple on pizza. On the other hand, anchovies (35%), pineapple (32%) and jalapeños (27%) were the most disliked pizza toppings.
Pizza Hut is one of the largest pizza chains in the world and they've put out 5 strong arguments for pineapple on pizza.
Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay says he doesn't feel pineapple belongs on pizza.

Since it was such a debate, thought I'd ask Wyomingites how they felt about adding pineapple to their pizza. The results weren't what I thought they'd be.
