Methane gas is an extremely flammable product and it is currently bubbling up from a river bed causing great concern for near by residents.

As you will see in this video, a local politician by the name of Jeremy Buckingham took a small boat out onto the Condamine river and then uses a lighter to ignite the gas to show it is flammable and almost sets himself on fire.

This is the current scene on the Condamine river in Australia and a local energy company is using fracking methods for extraction of coal seam gas less than 1 kilometer away. The gas in the river first started bubbling up from the gravel bed shortly after the fracking for coal seam gas began.

It's obvious that this local politician as well as many other environmentalists are blaming the fracking for the methane gas being released into the river.
